Meet Our Staff

Lynn Kopfmann, OTR/L, has been an occupational therapist
for more than 20 years and is a specialist in the area of
sensory integration. Lynn established The Therapy Place
in 1996 as a child-centered outpatient clinic designed to
maximize the effectiveness of the therapy experience for
children, while nurturing the joy and playfulness that is
the cornerstone of childhood.

Abrielle Blum

Angela Ellingson

Abrielle Blum, MS, OTR/L earned her Master of Science degree in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She has experience working in outpatient pediatrics as well as inpatient adult rehab. Abby’s professional interests include working with children with developmental disabilities within a sensory integration model. She has training in the Neurosensorimotor Reflex Integration method (MNRI) developed by Dr. Svetlana Masgutova (Dynamic and Postural), and interest in auditory interventions and feeding therapy. She feels one of the most rewarding parts of her job is providing children opportunities for developing skills within a playful and motivating context.

Angela Ellingson, MS, OTR/L, has a master’s degree in occupational therapy from the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities. She has experience in outpatient pediatric therapy as well as inpatient physical rehabilitation and mental health. Angie has training in the Tactile Integration Protocol, Therapeutic Listening, and The Listening Program. She especially enjoys sensory integration and feeding therapy. She loves being able to help children increase their independence and skills in daily tasks and enjoys the unique perspectives and questions that children have!

Corinne Haack, Billing Specialist has been with The Therapy Place off and on since 2007. She is a wife, mother, and full time student at St. Catherine University where she is studying to be an occupational therapist. She hopes to enter OT school in the Fall of 2013, and go on to graduate in June 2016. “The field of OT is very broad, but I hope to concentrate on pediatric care with a focus on sensory processing and autism spectrum disorders. Watching children grow and develop their brains is fascinating, and assisting a child who is having difficulty with normal development is incredibly rewarding. I can’t wait to be an OT!”

Jackie Hillstrom, MA, OTR/L has a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from the College of St. Catherine in St. Paul, MN.  She has experience in pediatric occupational therapy, as well as adult inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy.  Her interests include sensory integration, therapeutic listening and research. “Working with children and their families is a remarkable experience. Involvement in helping a child acquire new skills, master emerging skills and become more independent and confident in their environment is very rewarding.”

Tyler Kielb is a graduate of Minnesota Life College and has worked in hospital-based rehab. His area of specialty is “relating to patients of all abilities and ages to form group goals and reach them. I set up therapy materials and equipment, and I clean up after sessions. I love working with the kids.”

Summer Kopfmann is business administrator at The Therapy Place. She also developed and facilitates the clinic’s yoga program. With over 10 years of teaching experience, Summer, has worked with students ranging from toddlers to adults. Summer also is the Spanish interpreter/translator at The Therapy Place.

Melissa Lammer, MHS.CCC.SLP has a masters degree in Speech and Language Pathology. She has worked in early childhood special education for seven years with a primary focus on autism. Melissa has also worked at Bay Cliff Health camp for several summers where an intense team approach was used for children with a variety of disorders including cerebral palsy and Down Syndrome. “I absolutely love working with children and motivating them to reach their goals. The best part is feeling their excitement when they have accomplished a new task”.

Jodi Lawyer, MA, OTR/L has a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from St. Catherine University in St. Paul, MN. She has experience in pediatric occupational therapy, as well as adult inpatient and outpatient occupational therapy. Her interests include sensory integration, autism spectrum disorder and fine motor development. Jodi feels the most rewarding part of the job is watching a child’s eyes light up when they acquire a new skill and cultivating confidence to try a new activity.

Amanda McClees, M.A. CCC/SLP has a Master’s Degree in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Minnesota-Duluth and has been working at The Therapy Place since 2000. In addition to working with children who have a variety of speech and language needs, she has helped develop and facilitate the social thinking (Michelle Garcia Winner’s ILAUGH) groups/program at The Therapy Place. “Helping children communicate to the best of their ability is a rewarding experience.”
