Social Skills Groups

The Therapy Place is offering a social skillsgroup for children ages 6-12. The curriculum will include concepts from theILAUGH program. Emphasis of the group will be on starting, maintaining andending conversations, recognizing and using non verbal cues, turn taking, aswell as strategies for organization and motivation.

Dianna Michels, an occupational therapy assistant,teacher and the autism consultant for the Minnetonka Schools will again beleading our groups. The Therapy Place has been fortunate to have Dianna’sexpertise in leading our groups for the past decade.

Treating and Preventing ADHD, Autism, Sensory integration and Mental Health issues

Please join us to learn about the impact that diet, environment, genetics and nutrition may play inyour child’s life. Learn how to treat symptoms of Autism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder andmental health issues using a functional medicine approach. This involves treating underlyingissues, which then improve symptoms. Important strategies to increase the odds of preventingAutism, ADHD, Sensory Processing Disorder and mental health issues will be discussed.

Presentation will also include:

  • Daily challenges that you may face and ways to cope
  • Preparing for pregnancy in a healthy preventive fashion, in order to have the best chance of creating and nurturing a healthy child, unburdened by these conditions.

Presenters

Stephanie Belseth who is the founder of the Newbridge Clinic, which is a Holistic Healthcare facility, is a board-certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner with over 20 years experience specializing in general pediatrics, asthma, andearly childhood development at Children’s Hospitals and Clinics in Minneapolis, Children’s Hospital in Oakland CA,the MN Department of Health, and the Minneapolis Public Schools. She has received advanced training inintegrative, functional medicine, natural, and biomedical approaches to managing pediatric health and developmentalconditions with a focus on children with special needs.

Krista Margolis is a Registered Nurse and Certified Women’s Health Care Nurse Practitioner. She treats women holistically, incorporating all aspects of their lives into their health care. She strongly believes in a woman’s right to make educated personal decisions regarding her health care and the health of her family. Krista has cared and advocated for women in a variety of settings including community clinics, teen clinics, and private OB/GYN clinics. Krista is a member of the Minnesota Holistic Nurses Association and the Institute for Functional Medicine
