Spring Decorations
(great fine motor and tactile activity)
What you will need:
Homemade modeling dough (see recipe below), rolling pin, any spring cookie cutter (flower, bird, sun…)
What to do:
1. When making the dough, divide it into sections so that you can add food coloring and have a variety of colors for making the decorations.
2. Roll out the dough and use a cookie cutter to make the spring shape.
3. Let the kids decorate with different colors of dough.
4. Make a whole in the top so that you can hang your spring decorations around the house (squeezing a hole punch is a good hand strengthening activity)

**For GFCF dough, add food coloring or dry tempura paint for color if tolerated by your child.
**Add glitter for sparkly playdough.
** Adding vanilla extract to homemade dough helps preserve the dough, prevent mold and makes it smell nice. Peppermint extract works, too.

** For Kool-Aid Dough (not on the stove) have your child stir the dough as much as he or she can for a bilateral hand activity. Using a piece of rubber (shelf liner) helps the bowl from slipping on the counter or table.
